Artist's Statement

I capture my thoughts and feelings at the time of creation in order to provoke an intellectual and emotional reaction from viewers. My process is completely spontaneous. I adopt any technique or medium necessary.  To express a full range of emotions, I use a full range of materials.

To me, "trash" is alive, collage a necessity. I thrill to unlikely combinations of line, texture and color, building with brushstrokes and objects both rough and smooth to give shape to feeling. A crimson-soaked paper towel becomes a rose.  A paper coffee cup, a vase.  My conjunctions of crude and elegant, fragment and form, reflect the complexity of human experience and the ways in which we can transfigure our everyday existence.
